The E-TWOW Story
E-TWOW, an abbreviation for Electric Two Wheels (pronounced E 2 W), stands as a cornerstone in a vast international initiative with its central hub situated in China. As manufacturers of electric scooters, our primary objective was to usher in a new epoch in urban mobility through our innovative electric vehicles. The E-TWOW electric kick scooter emerged as a pragmatic solution for everyday life, crafted by a team of engineers equipped with substantial expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering.
Our Voyage as Electric Scooter Manufacturers
The inaugural E-TWOW electric scooter materialized in 2013, born out of the necessity to navigate bustling cityscapes efficiently. At the time, conventional and electric bikes were the sole alternatives to cars and public transportation. However, bikes proved inconvenient due to their weight, and in many major cities, they were prohibited on subways. This spurred the demand for a more compact, portable mode of transportation.
Our journey commenced with a prototype, tested amidst the bustling streets of Shanghai. The revolutionary electric vehicle captivated attention, with passersby frequently inquiring about this novel scooter. While initially, the electric scooter faced challenges as it was perceived as a children's toy, the experience of riding it quickly convinced individuals of its practicality and enjoyment.
In 2013, we achieved a milestone by mass-producing the lightest electric scooter of its time, weighing a mere 9.8 kg. It was the pioneer in incorporating a brushless electric motor within the front wheel, featuring an electromagnetic brake and the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS). Pioneering a New Era in Urban Mobility
Every passing year brought new challenges, each met with improvements. The E-TWOW scooter was the first to integrate a kinetic energy recovery system, a technology previously reserved for race cars. Its lightweight design and 3-point folding system made it exceptionally convenient for personal transportation, allowing for easy carrying and storage. While the initial design focused on stability and maneuverability, subsequent generations saw significant enhancements in ergonomics and software.
Initially collaborating with various factories for scooter components, we later opted to become e-scooter manufacturers, producing the majority of components in our own factory to ensure quality. Presently, three business centers operate globally: the China factories and sales offices in Germany and Romania. The China production center manufactures nearly 90% of the scooter's components, ranging from hardware to software, motors, plastic components, and batteries.
In 2017, the E-TWOW electric portable and foldable vehicle received a gold medal for the best invention at the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva. While other electric scooter manufacturers entered the scene, E-TWOW e-scooters remained the top choice, distinguished by their quality, exceptional maneuverability, and overall user-friendly design. Notably, the E-TWOW scooter stands as the sole electric vehicle fully functional without a battery, allowing users to ride downhill without damaging components.
Paving the Way for Electric Vehicles
In 2023, our second production center in China was inaugurated, tripling our production capacity. This expansion facilitated the development of new e-scooter models and the introduction of groundbreaking concepts and cutting-edge technology that promises to shape the future of the industry. Branching into the electric moped sector, we unveiled an all-wheel-drive electric moped with a state-of-the-art braking system. All components and sub-assemblies align with automotive industry standards, solidifying our commitment to shaping the future of electric vehicles.
